Carpet Cleaning Method

We use “hot water extraction”, also referred to as steam cleaning. This method is recommended and preferred by carpet manufacturers.

The carpet is typically dry in 4 to 6 hours. Carpet drying time can vary widely due to the density of your carpet, humidity and the degree of soil. To speed dry, ventilate the area as much possible and add circulation by turning on your ceiling fans.

Maintaining Your Carpet

When it comes to maintaining your carpet, regular carpet cleanings are necessary to keep it looking new. One of the most critical areas of focus are the traffic areas. If ground-in soil is not removed on a regular basis, the traffic areas will begin to ware excessively. Soil is extremely abrasive against the fibers of the carpet as you walk back and forth soil gathers in carpet fibers and erodes, contributing to the premature demise of carpet.

Vacuuming your carpet on a regular basis, a minimum of one to two times per week is necessary for your carpet to have a long healthy life. Vacuuming removes the sharp soil that can cut and slice the fiber causing premature wear. Much of this soil is not visible to the naked eye. Remove any loose particles or debris as these items can cause a spot on the carpet.

You must react to “danger” spots immediately. Red wine, red beverages, urine, blood, etc. can cause a permanent stain if not treated immediately. Please see our Spot Removal Guide for helpful steps. However, a professional carpet cleaner is recommended to remove these types of spots.

Carpet Protector

Over time, the stain-resistancy of stain-resistant carpet wears down. For optimum care have protector, such as scotchgard, regularly applied after cleaning. This will protect against both soil and water based stains in all kinds of carpets (wool, olefin, and nylon) and upholstery fabric. Stain-resistant does not mean stain proof. Be sure to act immediately to prevent it from causing permanent damage if a spill should happen.
